Support the Museum

The National Museum in Gdańsk is a public cultural institution dedicated to preserving and promoting the national heritage. It thrives thanks to people who recognise the value of heritage, art and culture. There are many ways to support us – from cooperation and partnerships to getting involved in the initiatives we organise. We are open to a wide range of needs and ideas and can tailor our collaboration accordingly.

Sponsorship

We work with sponsors and patrons in a wide variety of ways, tailoring each partnership to their individual needs. Supporting the activities of the National Museum in Gdańsk enhances a brand’s prestige and creates added value, demonstrating its commitment to social responsibility and its appreciation of heritage, art and culture.

Collaboration on educational and audience development projects

Are you interested in initiatives that involve direct engagement with the National Museum in Gdańsk’s audiences? Our audiences comprise several diverse groups, each drawn to different aspects of our activities: Old Art, modern and contemporary art, ethnography, photography, the culture of the Polish nobility (Museum of Polish Nobility), and national heritage (Museum of the National Anthem). They include adults as well as families, children and young people. We would be delighted to work together on projects and events aimed at these different groups.

Donations

The collection of the National Museum in Gdańsk would not exist without the generosity of many distinguished donors, beginning with the merchant Jacob Kabrun, who in 1814 donated his extensive collection of several thousand paintings, drawings and prints by European masters dating from the late fifteenth to the early nineteenth century, and continuing with Basil Alkazzi, a painter and collector who donated 70 works by artists working in the United States, the United Kingdom, Japan and South Korea, and established a fund that enabled us to acquire more than 200 works by young Polish painters for the collection. In 2025, mBank donated its collection of young Polish painting to the Museum, comprising 152 works by 49 young Polish artists. Together, the works by artists who made their debuts after 2000 now form one of the most important collections of its kind in Polish museums.

Every work that finds a home at the National Museum in Gdańsk is catalogued, documented, researched and conserved. Our specialists ensure that the works are stored in appropriate conditions. They are made accessible to a wide range of audiences through thematic and monographic exhibitions at the Museum’s various branches, as well as through an extensive programme of educational activities led by our qualified educators and invited experts. Works from the collection are also loaned to exhibitions throughout Poland and abroad.
